Top 12 benefits of being a student
at Midtown Music Academy

1. Our music teachers are highly qualified and have a record of success with kids
Not only do our teachers have college degrees in music and perform professionally (not all music educators do!), they also each have 15+ years of experience teaching music to kids of all ages, and they truly love what they do!
2. Our students successfully achieve their goals
Our students consistently receive high ratings at solo & ensemble festivals, competitions, theory exams, and performance auditions, and some of our students have prepared excellent college auditions and are now on their way to becoming professional musicians themselves. We are excited to help you achieve your goals, whatever they are!
3. Kids LOVE our monthly group classes!
All of our students get to attend monthly group classes, and both young kids and teens are always excited to attend! We often group students by age or playing level, and spend time on various activities such as music theory, educational games, performance, and music history.
4. We build complete musicians
A lot of teachers out there merely teach students how to play specific songs, but along the way we teach you how to learn music, so eventually you can become your own teacher and learn whatever music you want to! Lessons include elements such as technical exercises, scales & arpeggios, sight reading, written theory, ear training, and performance pieces, all of which are building blocks to becoming a complete musician.

5. We emphasize healthy playing technique
Our teachers know from experience that having healthy technique is essential to enjoying music. By building a strong technical foundation from the very beginning, our students are not only able to play more expressively and take on more challenging music, but they will also be equipped to play injury-free for a lifetime.
6. Students learn to play together
Music can easily become a solitary activity, so we work hard to keep our students connected to each other. Playing duets with other kids or their teacher helps our students grow musically, and it's also very fun, which gives great motivation for practice!
7. Month-to-month commitment
Our enrollment is open year-round! You can begin music lessons any month throughout the year, and no long-term commitment is required. All we require is a full month’s notice if you need to discontinue lessons.
8. Flexible options for parents
During your child's lesson, you can drop them off, wait in our waiting area, or sit in on their lesson. We especially encourage parent involvement with younger children, and sometimes that involves attending part of their lesson. Don’t worry though, you don’t need to have any musical skill to help your child succeed!
9. Morning & afternoon lesson times available
In addition to standard after-school times, we currently have both morning and early afternoon lesson times available, which can be a great option for homeschoolers, preschool-age kids, and adults.

10. FREE biannual student showcase recitals
Our student recitals are usually in April and December, and unlike many studios, there is no charge for students to participate! We encourage students and their families to invite as many guests as they want to.
11. Free faculty concerts, given by your teachers!
Our instructors are also professional performing artists, and occasionally they give free performances that their students will be invited to! Not many studios give you the chance to hear your teacher perform like this. We love using this as a way to both inspire our students and introduce them to various styles of music.
12. Earn unlimited referral bonuses
You can earn an unlimited number of $50 gift cards by telling your friends about us! For full details, follow this link to our Referral Rewards Program page.

  • Mary - harp student

"I have taken harp lessons with Rebekah for over 12 years, since I was six. She has helped me grow as a musician and successfully guided me through ABRSM practical and theory testing. I was able to complete their highest level with marks of distinction, and I know that I could not have been as confident and successful without her preparation and devotion to my lessons.

Rebekah has been a wonderful influence on my life as a person and a harpist.”

  • Jonna - parent

"Two of our children have taken music lessons at Midtown Music Academy. We couldn't be more pleased, and know that they both obtained a solid foundation as well as advanced training."
